When you were five

My son, Kyle is a lot of things to say the least. He's smart, he's funny, he's nosy, and he's adorable. one moment you'd wish him to keep quiet for a good 5 minutes and the next you'd want to laugh at something clever he has just said. In a few years, should there be a chance that I forget how special this stage was for me, I wish Kyle gets to read this particular post for I want him to know that even the smallest things were taken noticed of like:

When you were five, your favorite meal was made of rice, scrambled egg, and ketchup. If you had it your way, you'd eat that everyday.

When you were five, you loved to sing songs... you loved to sing anything from nursery rhymes to the latest Justin Bieber song.

When you were five, you refused to dress in front of other people. You insisted on going to the bathroom to change your shirt (when it gets dirty).

When you were five, your favorite TV programs were Phineas and Ferb (those two little boys that invent all sorts of things) and Tom and Jerry (yes, you haven't outgrown that yet). You would also constantly fight with mama over use of the desktop-- you loved playing games from y8.com and y3.com.

When you were five, you'd dance to the tune of the kung-fu song on the disney channel ad when you think I'm not looking.

When you were five, you'd wake up at 6 am, get out of the room and watch TV in the living room while waiting for us to wake up.

When you were five, you'd switch the channels to those that air America's Next Top Model, Barefoot Contessa, Glee, or Everyday Italian because you know that those were the TV programs I love to watch.

When you were five, you'd constantly fight with your younger sister, Sophia but you'd also prepare her milk when she starts to get drowsy.

When you were five, you started to read books and you'd ask me to read the words you were unfamiliar with.

When you were five, you couldn't wait to reach 20 because I promised you that I'd allow you to sleep on my bed instead of your air bed when you get to the "big boy age" of 20.

When you were five, you'd talk to your youngest sister (who was still on my tummy at that time) to remind her that she shouldn't kick mommy at night.

When you were five, you'd often see yourself sitting on the corner with your sister, Sophia because you committed something naughty.

and of course...

When you were five, you'd always end the day with the phrases "Good night, sweet dreams, I love you" and with those simple phrases you'd melt our hearts and make our day.

There's so much more that I'd like to add but a page or two wouldn't be enough to write the things you were when you were five. You were difficult, charming, and so so amazing that it was difficult to predict what you would have done next.

Bottom line is, when you were five, you were loved as much as you are loved now-- and you will always be loved no matter what. -- Love, Mommy
