It IS a given fact, especially to us girls, that CLEANSING is a vital step in keeping and maintaining a good skin. Notice how it is often advised THAT WE DO NOT SLEEP WITH OUR MAKE-UP ON? Cleansing is even more important to those with oily and combination skin, just like mine, because dirt tends to stick more easily to this kind of skin types. Now, with all of this being said, it is important that we use good facial cleansers.
I am currently using Shu Uemura White Recovery EX++ Cleansing Oil. I've heard a lot of good reviews from the Shu Uemura facial cleansers. This is the reason why I just had to get it after I finished my previous cleanser. I've been using it for more than 2 weeks now and to know what I think about it, please read on.
Shu Uemura claims that:
the advanced gentle formula is fortified with vitamin c derivative os, known for its brightening properties to deliver bight, smooth, translucent skin empowered with newly advanced hpo system which dramatically increases removability of waterproof mascara and long-lasting makeup. impurities are perfectly removed for luminous clarity and soft supple skin with one-step cleansing.
It promises a lot of things in just one product and I was inclined not to believe it but after I used it for the first time I fell in love. My skin was smooth to the touch (not dry at all) after I used it and with continuous use, I feel like my skin was lighter and brighter. The result must have something to do with the ingredients in this oil. It has pure vitamin c, prune extract, sakura leaf extract, and deep sea water. For best results, it is important that you follow these easy steps:
- Use 3-4 pumps of cleansing oil on dry hands ( I use 1-2 pumps when I'm not wearing make-up)
- Spread thoroughly on entire face
- Add a few drops of lukewarm water to emulsify (Oil will turn milky white)
- Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water
"How to use" steps were taken here.
I love that this cleanser has a very light scent that isn't over powering to the nose. It doesn't hurt too that the packaging comes in a crystal-like lavender color that's relaxing to look at.
I can only find two drawbacks from this product and these are texture and the price. I was a little worried when I first slathered the oil on to my face because I already have an oily skin to start with. I thought that putting more oil on it would cause horrific breakouts the following day. Much to my surprise, after washing my face, it didn't even feel like I put oil on it. I felt smooth and moisturized but not overly so.As for the price, one 450 mL bottle costs Php 5,200 while a smaller 150 mL bottle costs Php 2,200. When you come to think about it though, one bottle would last you a long time so investing in it would be worthwhile.
FINAL VERDICT: Shu Uemura White Recovery EX++ Cleansing Oil may be expensive but it is definitely worth an investment especially if you want a thoroughly cleansed but not dried-up face. Would I repurchase? Definitely, but I wouldn't need to in a long time because I haven't put a dent on mine (even after using it for less than a month).

UPDATE: I wrote this post sometime in December, 2010. It is now 2012 and I still haven't finished my Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil. Trust me when I say, it could really go a loooongggg way! :)
